Barb Work earns Certification as Professional in Human Resources

Barb Work, human resources manager, recently earned certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).  The certification, awarded by the HR Certification Institute, signifies that Work has passed a rigorous examintion and demonstrates a theoretical mastery in her field as well as a strong experience in professional human resources.

According to Mary Power, CAE, Executive Director of the HR Certification Institute, "Certification as a human resource professional clearly demonstrates a commitment to personal excellence and to the human resource profession,"  The HR Certification Institute is teh credentialing body for human resource professionals and is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource management (SRHRM), the world's largest organization dedicated exclusively to the human resource profession.

Erika McWell receives the 'Child at Heart Award' 

Congratulations to Erika McWell on her recent 'Child at Heart Award'.  Erika was presented the award in Des Moines on February 9th. She was nominated for this award by Matt Ohman with Siouxland Human Investment Partnership (SHIP).  Matt stated, "Erika's day starts before the sun comes up and many times does not end until the sun goes down.  She spends her day making sure each center provides high-quality child care adn ensures that parents are able to continue to work and/or go to school.  It is because of her passion for her work adn her dedication that I decided to nominate Erika for this prestigious award."

There are two awards given annual by the Early Childhood Iowa department.  The 'Child as Heart Award' is given to someone who has advocated on behalf of young children.
